Job Description:

Home Care by Design is seeking a compassionate, reliable Caregiver / Phlebotomist to join our care team for a weekend live-in position supporting an elderly gentleman with mildly progressive dementia in the Walnut Creek area. This is a unique opportunity for a skilled phlebotomist looking to expand their expertise and grow within a supportive home-care environment.

Training will be provided for in-home dialysis procedures , including peritoneal dialysis , a specialized alternative for patients with kidney failure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide attentive and hands-on care including hygiene, mobility assistance, and companionship.
• Perform phlebotomy duties as needed (or be willing to train).
• Perform sterile techniques related to phlebotomy.
• Support and assist with Peritoneal Dialysis procedures (non-hemodialysis technique – training provided).
• Administer medications and document care activities accurately.
• Maintain a clean and safe home environment.
• Monitor and report any changes in the client’s condition.
• Collaborate with family members and healthcare professionals.

Qualifications:

• Phlebotomy certification required.
• Prior caregiving experience required.
• Experience with or willingness to learn sterile techniques related to phlebotomy.
• Ability to commit to 48-hour weekend shifts.
• Patience, empathy, and excellent communication skills.
• Must be organized, dependable, and detail-oriented.
• Valid driver’s license and clear background check.
