The Northrop Grumman (NG) Human Resources organization is seeking a Learning & Development Specialist to join the Enterprise Critical Skills Development organization (ECSD).

This position will be primarily located in Falls Church, VA, however, we will consider virtual telecommuters, or candidates working at any other major NG location.

ECSD delivers development resources to the global NGC workforce through 3 primary activities:

  • Understanding the companys current & future critical skills development needs.

  • Defining, developing, and deploying strategic content and programs.

  • Ensuring resources are accessible and relevant to all users.

In support of this mission, ECSD leverages program partnerships, instructional design expertise and critical skills development to executive enterprise solutions.

Key Responsibilities

The Learning & Development Specialist, reporting to the Learning & Development Manager, applies project management skills and instructional design expertise to deploy learning solutions to address our most critical business and workforce development needs.

As the Learning & Development (L&D) Specialist, you will:

  • Design and implement upskilling solutions that apply adult learning principles and industry best practices.

  • Apply instructional design theories and methods to create impactful learning materials.

  • Consult/advise on multiple L&D projects, providing thought leadership and instructional design expertise.

  • Develop and deliver innovative and engaging virtual and/or in-person training and development offerings, emphasizing experiential and simulation-based learning.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and subject matter experts on the planning, development, implementation, and sustainment of talent development solutions.

  • Conduct subject matter expert interviews to collect information on high-priority skills and business outcomes.

  • Evaluate the impact of L&D solutions.

  • Manage L&D projects from start to finish, including establishing goals, learning objectives, timelines.

  • Coordinate project meetings, track progress, and identify/address risks.

  • Prepare presentations and brief multiple stakeholder groups, including executives.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Education, or related discipline, with at least 6 years of relevant experience (4 years with a Masters and 2 years with Doctorate); 10 years of relevant instructional design experience in lieu of a degree.

  • Demonstrated experience developing & teaching STEM curricula.

  • Demonstrated experience assessing learning and development.

  • Demonstrated experience in instructional design models and technology and leveraging learning theories.

  • Demonstrated experience collaborating across organizational boundaries and influencing stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Worked in/around the technical & functional domains we support (e.g., Systems Engineering, Software, Manufacturing, Program Management, Business Development).

  • Experience with eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Adobe Captivate/Articulate Storyline) and Learning Management Systems.

Salary Range: $82,900 - $136,800

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
