Salary: $48,600 - 60,800 per year Requirements:
- I am seeking candidates who possess a Bachelor’s degree along with some experience in web development. Ideal applicants will have a solid understanding of relational databases (such as MySQL) and SQL queries, as well as knowledge of Linux virtual machines and SSH. Proficiency in JavaScript frameworks, including Angular, React, NodeJS, and JQuery; HTML, CSS, JSON; PHP; and familiarity with WordPress or Omeka will be necessary. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, multitasking skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders are essential. I look for individuals who are eager to learn new skills and technologies for projects and can collaborate with developers for an efficient development process.
Responsibilities: - In the role of Web Developer I, I will require you to write and maintain standard front-end and back-end code that supports our websites and web applications. You will leverage specialized knowledge of web code standards and frameworks to create complex, dynamic websites and applications that adhere to university and governmental standards. Additionally, you will build and maintain website functionalities and workflows using various web development tools and languages including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP. Reporting directly to the Technical Development Librarian, you will collaborate within a hybrid development team and work under close supervision.

While additional qualifications are not mandatory, experience with WordPress or Omeka, particularly in theme and plugin development, is preferred. Familiarity with web accessibility (WCAG 2), SEO best practices, and web performance optimization techniques are also advantageous. Applicants with experience in CSS preprocessors such as SASS or LESS, advanced JavaScript frameworks like React or Vue.js, website migrations to WordPress and/or Omeka, and an understanding of agile development methodologies will be looked upon favorably.
