About the Role:

Walton Arts Center is looking for a Junior Backend Web Developer who’s ready to roll up their sleeves and shape the foundation of our digital platforms. You’ll work alongside a frontend developer to support amptickets.com (built on Strapi, Vercel, and Render), help lead the backend for a complete waltonartscenter.org rebuild, and build nimble tools that drive internal operations.

• Maintain and expand Strapi-based backend for amptickets.com
• Develop APIs and backend services for internal apps and public-facing features
• Collaborate closely with frontend, devops, and infrastructure teams
• Lead backend work on the waltonartscenter.org rebuild
• Help design and build backend logic for micro-apps like event registration tools and finance workflows
• Monitor application performance, assist with load balancing, and support uptime and scalability efforts
• Contribute to CI/CD automation, deployments, and observability (via Render, Vercel, or other platforms)

• 1–2 years of backend or full stack experience (internship or freelance OK)
• Experience working with Node.js , Strapi, REST APIs, and/or GraphQL
• Familiarity with database concepts (PostgreSQL, SQLite, or similar)
• Interest or beginner-level experience with DevOps, load balancing, and web security fundamentals
• Exposure to CI/CD tools, logging/monitoring solutions, and Git-based workflows
• Curiosity, coachability, and a strong commitment to growth

$20 - $25 an hour
