Job Description:

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on leader to build, scale, and optimize our people and organizational development functions from the ground up. The Head of People and Organizational Development will be responsible for creating and executing a people strategy that supports our exponential growth while fostering a high-performance, mission-driven culture. This role requires a balance of strategic vision and hands-on execution to build HR, talent acquisition, learning and development, culture, and organizational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic HR Leadership: Develop and implement a scalable people strategy that aligns with the company's growth trajectory, ensuring we attract, retain, and develop top-tier aerospace and engineering talent.
  • Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning: Build and lead a recruiting function that supports rapid hiring, ensuring we hire for both skill and cultural fit. Develop long-term workforce planning strategies.
  • Culture & Employee Experience: Define and cultivate a values-driven, high-performance culture that supports collaboration, innovation, and agility.
  • Organizational Development & Learning: Establish leadership development programs, technical training, and career pathways to grow and retain employees at all levels.
  • HR Operations & Compliance: Build HR processes, policies, and systems that are legally compliant, efficient, and scalable while maintaining a people-first approach.
  • Compensation & Benefits: Develop competitive, equitable compensation and benefits structures to attract and retain top talent.
  • Change Management: Drive organizational change initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions as the company grows and scales.
  • Agile Project Management: Utilize Jira to track, prioritize, and distribute tasks efficiently among team members.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contribute to process improvements and best practices within the overall organization.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field.
  • Experience: 10+ years of HR leadership experience, ideally within high-growth startups, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Growth Mindset: Proven track record of scaling HR functions in rapidly growing organizations with deep expertise in talent acquisition, culture-building, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Emotional Intelligence: Strong ability to attract key talent and discern the character and experience of applicants. Also, the ability to manage the complexities of unique personal situations and relationships within the company.
  • Recruitment Acumen: Proven expertise in talent acquisition, including headhunting, recruitment strategy, and building high-performing teams in a competitive talent market.
  • Strategy: Ability to project workforce needs, improve efficiency, and establish sustainable policies to ensure the payroll burn-rate is controlled for a path to profitability.
  • Compliance: Strong understanding of employment laws, compliance, and best practices in workforce management.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively present and document information for various stakeholders.
  • Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries such as aerospace, defense, or technology, with familiarity in FAA, ITAR, and other compliance frameworks preferred.
  • Experience growing a pre-revenue startup into a profitable company.
  • Professional HR certifications such as SHRM-SCP, SPHR, THRP, or CIPD Level 7.
  • Experience with BambooHR or similar HRIS platforms.
