A leading medical device manufacturer located in Philadelphia, PA, is seeking an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the daily operation, maintenance, and safety of its facilities. Position Summary:
The Facilities Manager will play a hands-on role in maintaining and repairing a wide range of building systems and equipment. This role requires mechanical expertise, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to manage both in-house staff and contractors. The ideal candidate will have 5–8 years of experience in facilities management, with preference for candidates with 8 years of relevant experience.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Supervise or directly perform routine maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting of building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, gas lines, vacuum pumps, air compressors, water fountains, and machinery.
- Respond to urgent facility issues, including equipment failures, leaks, and safety hazards, performing hands-on repairs to resolve problems efficiently.
- Plan, estimate, and oversee facilities projects, including labor, materials, and equipment costs, while staying within budget.
- Conduct inspections to proactively identify maintenance or upgrade needs.
- Oversee construction, renovations, or improvements, ensuring compliance with codes, regulations, and safety standards.
- Maintain comprehensive records of facility operations, including maintenance schedules, inspections, and compliance documentation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for facilities-related needs, collaborating closely with internal departments and leadership.
- Manage contractors and vendors to ensure timely and quality completion of tasks.
- Apply advanced knowledge of facilities management principles to handle complex maintenance and operational tasks independently.
- Assist with preparation of annual facilities management budgets with a focus on cost-effective solutions and preventive maintenance.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- HVAC Certification required.
- 5–8 years of related facilities management experience (preference for 8 years).
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on repair experience across a variety of equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair machinery, gas lines, vacuum pumps, air compressors, plumbing, and more.
- Experience managing contractors and overseeing facilities projects.
- Knowledge of building codes, OSHA regulations, and safety compliance.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.
- Forklift certification preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods.
- Access all interior and exterior areas of the facility.
- Lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Work in all types of weather conditions when required.
