Wedding Cake Decorator / Icing Specialist

The Baking Institute Bakery Co. – Wheeling, IL

We are seeking a talented Cake Decorator / Icing Specialist to join our growing wholesale bakery team. This position is focused on wedding cake and specialty cake finishing, with opportunities to contribute to high-volume pastry production for hotels, caterers, and private clients.

• Ice, stack, and finish wedding cakes, specialty cakes, and dessert cakes with precision and creativity.
• Apply buttercream, fondant, and other icings smoothly and consistently.
• Execute decorative piping, borders, and elegant finishing touches.
• Ensure cakes are decorated according to customer specifications, designs, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with the pastry team to maintain consistent production schedules.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment.

• Prior professional experience in cake decorating (wedding cake experience strongly preferred).
• Strong skills in buttercream and fondant icing.
• Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume bakery environment while maintaining attention to detail.
• Creativity, steady hands, and an eye for design.
• Team-oriented, dependable, and able to follow instructions and production schedules.

• Monday–Friday, early start until production is complete
• At least 1 Saturday per month (rotating schedule)
• Lots of overtime during peak wedding/holiday season
• Competitive hourly pay, based on experience
